A Day on the Line

As the title suggests, A Day on the Line is all about trains, specifically the Johnsonville trains. We take a trip on one of the rattly old British Electric Units from Wellington to Johnsonville and back, talking to some very interesting people about their experiences on one of New Zealand’s iconic bits of railway track.

The programme first aired on National Radio in 2001 as a Spectrum documentary. I pitched it to RNZ as part of a Creative Writing paper at Victoria University’s International Insititute of Modern Letters and was delighted when Jack Perkins nabbed it for Spectrum.
