New government appointments thick and fast.

Broccoli-eared footy player and religious icon Richie McCaw has been appointed to the positions of Senior Cabinet Advisor and Prime Ministerial Food-Tester, according to a statement released by the PM’s Office today.

Prime Minister and non-dancing cheerleader for the All Blacks, John Keys, said Mr McCaw had demonstrated “the sort of skills and abilities we need in the Government”.

“Not only is Richie a superb ambassador for New Zealand sports supremacy except in cricket, netball, hockey and any other ones that matter, but he has the right stuff when it comes to politics.”

The announcement comes after Mr McCaw told media he was in favour of a new flag for New Zealand, although Mr Keys denies there is any link.

“To suggest that I reward cronyism and lap-doggishness is absurd, and would reflect badly on Jonathon Coleman and Tim Groser,” he said.
